I think this website will come in handy because it is all about body image and eating disorders and what causes them. I definitely believe that the media has a huge effect on eating disorders and this website will help me gain more knowledge about these types of disorders.

This website talks about how unfortunately the aspiration to be extremely thin starts at a young age for most girls. It also talks about how parents should help by teaching these young girls to realize that what they see in the magazines is not a true portrayal of what everyone looks like. I think this article is very important because it discusses how women aren't the only ones who struggle with body image issues, men do too. I think society often thinks that only women are the only ones who feel bad about the way they look or that women are the only ones with eating disorders but this is not true. The media effects men the same way it does women and I think that's important to know.

This website talks more about the effect of the media on body image. It also talks about different theories as to why people let the media effect them.

This website talks about how body image and ideals have changed over the years. I think this is very interesting because the "ideal" body has changed dramatically over the years and I hope to be able to find out why that is so.

This article talks more about the media's influence on body image. It also talks about how different stores such as Abercrombie and Fitch only cater to certain sizes and that a Large t shirt would be a Small in a lot of other stores. This might not necessarily be media but it still has a huge effect on the way people see themselves.

I think this picture portrays what Victoria Secret, or the media, believes is the ideal body vs what the average woman looks like nowadays. I think this picture is the perfect example of what my topic is about because VS is basically saying that if you look like this that's the only way you can love your body.

This picture really shows how teens feel nowadays by seeing all these "ideal" bodies in the media. On every Magazine cover all you see are these girls who are a size zero being portrayed as the only ones who can be beautiful and for some people it can be very overwhelming.

This picture represents how women compare their own bodies to those that are seen as "ideal" such as Barbie. The picture show all the places that the woman would have to get "fixed" in order to have an ideal body.

I think this video is great because not only does it get the female an dmale perspective on negative body image, but it also shows examples of the different types of media that express this perfect body to the world. Not only magazines do this but television, music videos, clothing stores etc.

This video also talks about the male and female perspective on body image. It gives great examples of what is considered to be the ideal body in today's society and the types of magazines or brands that potray that messgae.
